Ilex aquifolium 'Aurea Marginata' (F)
Ilex 'Aurea Marginata' is an attractive female evergreen holly with glossy dark green leaves boldly edged in golden yellow. Its dense, bushy habit and colourful variegated foliage provide excellent structure and year-round interest.
Clusters of small white flowers appear in spring and early summer, followed by bright red berries in autumn and winter when a suitable male holly is growing nearby for pollination. The combination of golden foliage and colourful berries makes it particularly valuable for seasonal and wildlife-friendly planting.
Hardy, reliable and easy to grow, 'Aurea Marginata' performs well in full sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil. It is ideal as a specimen shrub, for evergreen screening or hedging, and its golden variegation is generally brightest in a sunny position.
