Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris
Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris is an excellent hardy climber that thrives in shade, making it perfect for covering cold, north-facing walls that rarely see the sun. In summer it becomes smothered in lacy white flowers that contrast beautifully with the dark green foliage.
As the season moves into autumn, its heart-shaped leaves turn buttery yellow, brightening even the darkest corners of the garden. The blooms are also highly attractive to butterflies, adding movement and wildlife interest.
