Hamamelis x intermedia 'Jelena'
Hamamelis x intermedia 'Jelena' is a striking, well-branched deciduous shrub with a broad, spreading habit and spectacular copper-toned winter flowers. Also known as Copper Beauty, its ribbon-like blooms appear in shades of yellow, orange and red along the bare branches, creating a dramatic display during the colder months.
Flowering from late autumn into winter, 'Jelena' brings valuable colour to the garden when few other shrubs are in bloom. The flowers have a subtle citrus-like fragrance, while the green summer foliage transforms into vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red in autumn.
Ideal as a specimen shrub or for woodland gardens and mixed borders, 'Jelena' grows best in fertile, moist but well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. It prefers neutral to acidic conditions and benefits from a sheltered position where its winter flowers can be fully appreciated.
