Griselinia littoralis
Griselinia littoralis is a reliable evergreen shrub prized for its dense, vibrant green foliage that creates an excellent backdrop or screen in the garden. With a growth rate of 20–30cm per year, it is particularly valued as a hedging plant, forming a neat, tidy, and easily maintained barrier once established. Its glossy leaves provide colour and structure throughout the year, even in coastal or exposed sites.
Hardy and versatile, this New Zealand native performs well in a wide range of soils and tolerates coastal winds and salt spray, making it especially suitable for seaside gardens. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it is a dependable choice for long-lasting hedges or as a standalone specimen shrub.
