Geranium sanguineum 'Frivolius Purple'
Geranium sanguineum 'Frivolius Purple' is a compact, hardy perennial producing rich purple flowers above finely divided green foliage. Blooming from May to August, it provides a long season of colour, with the rounded blooms standing out beautifully against its neat, leafy mound.
As it establishes, its low, spreading growth forms attractive groundcover that helps suppress weeds. It is particularly useful for edging paths, softening border fronts and filling gaps between larger perennials. The flowers attract bees and other pollinators, while its manageable size also makes it suitable for patio pots and mixed containers.
Easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, 'Frivolius Purple' thrives in full sun or partial shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing and remove faded flowers to encourage further blooms. Its resilient nature makes it a reliable choice for cottage gardens, rockeries and low-maintenance planting.
