    Fagus sylvatica 'Dawyck Purple'

Fagus sylvatica 'Dawyck Purple' is a striking columnar form of European Beech, prized for its narrow, upright habit and deep purple foliage. Emerging in spring as rich burgundy-red, the leaves mature to a glossy purple through summer before turning coppery-bronze in autumn, providing a succession of seasonal colour. Its tall, architectural shape makes it an excellent choice for smaller gardens where space is limited, or as a dramatic vertical accent in larger landscapes.

Hardy and long-lived, this slow-growing variety is well-suited for avenue planting, screening, or as a specimen tree. With its neat, upright growth and strong presence, ‘Dawyck Purple’ offers year-round structure and vibrant foliage interest.
