Erica carnea f. aureifolia 'Dorset Sunshine'
Erica carnea f. aureifolia 'Dorset Sunshine' is a compact evergreen heather prized for its colourful foliage and spring flowers. Its fine, needle-like leaves turn deep golden-yellow in summer and lime-green in winter, bringing changing colour and texture to borders and containers.
Lilac-pink flowers appear from March to May, gradually deepening to rich magenta-pink. The small blooms cover its low, mounded growth and provide a useful food source for bees, making this a rewarding choice for spring planting schemes and wildlife-friendly gardens.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Dorset Sunshine' thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating neutral and mildly alkaline conditions. It is ideal for rockeries, banks, border edging and patio pots. Trim lightly after flowering to maintain a compact shape, avoiding cuts into old woody stems.
