Erica carnea f. aureifolia 'Bell's Extra Special'
Erica carnea f. aureifolia 'Bell's Extra Special' is a compact evergreen winter heath valued for its colourful foliage and seasonal flowers. Its fine, needle-like leaves display warm bronze tones flecked with orange and gold, bringing lasting colour and texture to low planting schemes throughout the year.
Small pink-purple flowers appear from January to May, providing colour through winter and into spring. The blooms offer a useful nectar source for bees, while its low, spreading habit makes it ideal for rockeries, border edges, sunny banks and seasonal container displays.
Hardy and low maintenance, 'Bell's Extra Special' grows well in full sun or partial shade with well-drained soil. This lime-tolerant heather prefers neutral to acidic conditions but can also grow in alkaline soil. A light trim after flowering helps maintain its neat outline.
