Dianthus deltoides 'Flashing Lights'
Dianthus deltoides 'Flashing Lights' is a mat-forming perennial with ruby-red flowers marked by a darker central ring. The delicately fringed blooms rise above narrow, grass-like evergreen foliage, creating a colourful carpet.
Flowering throughout summer, this low-growing dianthus suits rockeries, gravel gardens and the front of sunny borders. Its spreading habit softens path edges and provides ground cover between larger plants, while also working well around container edges.
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil, preferably neutral to alkaline, and avoid winter waterlogging. Remove faded flowers regularly to prolong the display, then trim lightly after flowering to maintain a neat shape.
