Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Chocamocha'
Cosmos atrosanguineus 'Chocamocha' is a compact and richly coloured perennial producing velvety deep burgundy-red flowers from summer through to autumn. The blooms are renowned for their delicious chocolate-like fragrance, making this variety a favourite for patios, pathways and areas where its unique scent can be fully appreciated.
This dwarf selection forms neat mounds of attractive foliage and flowers prolifically throughout the season. Its compact habit makes it ideal for containers, raised beds and the front of sunny borders, where the dark flowers provide striking contrast against lighter-coloured companions.
Easy to grow in a warm, sunny position, 'Chocamocha' is highly attractive to bees and butterflies while providing months of colour and fragrance. In colder areas, winter protection may be beneficial to ensure reliable return growth each year.

Cut back the faded top growth after the first frosts. In colder areas, lift the tuberous roots and store them somewhere cool, dry and frost-free over winter, much like dahlias. Alternatively, plants grown in pots can be moved into a sheltered, frost-free position and kept only lightly moist until spring.
