Corylus avellana 'Longue d'Espagne'
Hazel 'Longue d'Espagne' is a classic cobnut variety known for its long, elegantly shaped nuts and excellent flavour. Producing generous crops of large, sweet nuts, it is a superb choice for home orchards and productive gardens.
This vigorous, deciduous shrub or small tree bears attractive yellow catkins in late winter before fresh green foliage emerges in spring. Nuts ripen in early to mid-autumn and are ideal for fresh eating or storing. For the best harvest, plant alongside another hazel variety to ensure good cross-pollination.
Hardy and easy to grow, it thrives in well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Suitable for orchard planting, mixed hedgerows or as a productive feature plant, it combines ornamental interest with reliable yields.
