Hazel 'Fertile de Coutard' is a reliable and productive cobnut variety, valued for its excellent flavour and consistent cropping. Producing large, well-filled nuts with a rich, sweet taste, it is a superb choice for home orchards and productive gardens.
This vigorous, deciduous shrub or small tree produces long yellow catkins in late winter, adding early seasonal interest before the fresh green foliage appears. Nuts develop in clusters and are typically ready for harvest in early autumn. For best yields, plant alongside another hazel variety for cross-pollination.
