Corylus avellana 'Fertile de Coutard'
Hazel 'Fertile de Coutard' is a reliable and productive cobnut variety, valued for its excellent flavour and consistent cropping. Producing large, well-filled nuts with a rich, sweet taste, it is a superb choice for home orchards and productive gardens.
This vigorous, deciduous shrub or small tree produces long yellow catkins in late winter, adding early seasonal interest before the fresh green foliage appears. Nuts develop in clusters and are typically ready for harvest in early autumn. For best yields, plant alongside another hazel variety for cross-pollination.
Hardy and easy to grow, it thrives in well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position. Suitable for orchard planting, mixed hedgerows or as a productive feature plant, it combines ornamental value with practical harvests.
