Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea'
Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea' is a vigorous deciduous shrub prized for its brilliant yellow-green winter stems. The brightly coloured young growth creates a striking display after the leaves have fallen, particularly when planted in groups or against a dark evergreen backdrop.
Clusters of small creamy-white flowers appear in early to midsummer, attracting bees and other pollinating insects. These may be followed by rounded white berries that appeal to garden birds, while the green foliage develops warm shades of orange and red before falling in autumn.
Hardy, fast-growing and tolerant of a wide range of soils, 'Flaviramea' is ideal for borders, mass planting and moist areas beside ponds or streams. Pruning established plants hard in early spring encourages fresh young stems with the brightest winter colour.
