Cornus alba 'Sibirica'
Cornus alba 'Sibirica' is a vigorous deciduous shrub valued for its brilliant scarlet-red stems, which provide exceptional colour through the winter months. During spring and summer it carries fresh green foliage, creating an attractive backdrop to clusters of small creamy-white flowers.
As the season progresses, the leaves develop fiery shades of orange and red before falling to reveal the brightly coloured stems beneath. The flowers may be followed by blue-black berries, which provide additional seasonal interest and can attract birds to the garden.
Easy to grow and highly effective when planted in groups, 'Sibirica' is ideal for borders, winter gardens and larger planting schemes. For the strongest stem colour, established plants can be cut back hard in spring to encourage vigorous new growth for the following winter display.
