Clematis montana 'Alba'
Clematis montana 'Alba', also known as Clematis montana var. grandiflora, is a vigorous deciduous climber that brings an abundance of fresh spring colour. New foliage emerges with a soft bronze tint before maturing to green, creating a lovely backdrop for the profusion of fragrant, pure white flowers that appear from late spring into early summer. Each bloom has four rounded, overlapping petals, giving the climber a soft and elegant appearance.
A fast-growing, early-season clematis, ‘Alba’ belongs to Pruning Group 1 and flowers on wood produced the previous summer. It thrives in sun or partial shade in moist but well-drained soil and is ideal for covering walls, fences, pergolas, or large structures. Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it is prized for its reliability, fragrance, and impressive early display.
