Aronia melanocarpa 'Revontuli® Mound'
Chokeberry 'Revontuli Mound' is a compact, low-growing deciduous shrub with a naturally rounded, mounded habit. Glossy dark green foliage provides an attractive backdrop to clusters of white spring flowers, creating a neat display even in smaller gardens.
Following flowering, clusters of glossy black berries develop from late summer into autumn. The ripe berries are edible but have a naturally tart, sour and slightly bitter flavour, so they are best cooked into jams, jellies, syrups or juices with added sugar. Freezing the berries or harvesting after a frost can help soften their flavour.
In autumn, the foliage develops attractive shades of yellow, red and purple before falling. Extremely hardy and adaptable, 'Revontuli Mound' is ideal for borders, low planting, containers and wildlife-friendly gardens, growing well in sun or partial shade and a wide range of soils.
