Camellia japonica 'R. L. Wheeler' is a vigorous, upright evergreen shrub producing vibrant red to deep pink semi-double flowers from late winter into spring. The bold blooms are beautifully offset by glossy, dark green foliage, bringing valuable colour and structure to the garden when little else is in flower.
Each flower reveals a cluster of golden-yellow stamens at its centre, adding brightness and contrast. An excellent specimen shrub for woodland-style borders or sheltered positions, ‘R. L. Wheeler’ thrives in acid soil and rewards with reliable flowering year after year.
