Calocephalus brownii
Calocephalus brownii is a compact evergreen shrub grown for its striking silver-grey foliage and unusual wiry, twiggy structure. Its fine, interwoven stems create a cloud-like effect, adding unique colour and texture to planting schemes throughout the year. Although it produces small yellow flowers in late summer, the true appeal lies in its decorative foliage, which pairs beautifully with seasonal bedding plants such as violas, cyclamen, or Skimmia.
Hardy in mild areas and tolerant of dry conditions, this versatile shrub is particularly effective in containers, borders, and coastal gardens. Low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established, it provides reliable structure and silvery contrast in both sunny and partially shaded spots. It also works exceptionally well in autumn and winter container displays and hanging baskets.
