Betula utilis subsp. jacquemontii 'Doorenbos'
Betula utilis subsp. jacquemontii 'Doorenbos' is a striking deciduous tree prized for its exceptionally white, peeling bark, which provides outstanding year-round interest. Upright when young, it gradually develops into a graceful, open specimen with an elegant branching structure.
Fresh green foliage provides a soft backdrop through spring and summer before turning yellow in autumn. Once the leaves fall, the brilliant white bark becomes the main feature, making 'Doorenbos' particularly effective for adding structure and brightness to the winter garden.
Hardy, adaptable and easy to grow, 'Doorenbos' performs best in full sun or light shade in moist but well-drained soil. It makes an excellent specimen tree and is especially impressive when grown as a multi-stemmed plant or planted in groups for greater winter impact.
