Betula pendula 'Fuzzy Feathers'

Betula pendula 'Fuzzy Feathers'

Betula pendula 'Fuzzy Feathers' is a distinctive compact silver birch with unusually textured foliage and a densely branched habit. Its strongly toothed leaves emerge with attractive burgundy tones before gradually becoming green, bringing changing colour and fine detail to the garden throughout the growing season.

Its manageable proportions make it an appealing specimen for smaller gardens, mixed borders and courtyard planting. As the tree matures, pale bark adds further interest, standing out particularly well after the leaves fall. Soft yellow autumn foliage extends the seasonal display, while its branching framework provides an attractive outline through winter.

Hardy and straightforward to grow, 'Fuzzy Feathers' performs best in a sunny position with moist but well-drained soil. Allow space around the crown so its distinctive foliage can be appreciated. Water regularly during establishment, particularly in dry weather, and apply a mulch to help retain moisture around the roots.
