Begonia borneensis
Begonia borneensis is a rare and exotic species begonia prized for its unusual foliage and tropical character. The elongated green leaves are often marked with metallic tones and subtle texturing, creating a lush and highly decorative appearance suited to collector displays and terrariums.
Native to the humid forests of Borneo, this begonia thrives in warm, moist conditions where its foliage remains vibrant and healthy. Its compact yet elegant growth habit makes it ideal for display cabinets, terrariums or humid indoor spaces with filtered light.

Begonia Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the delicate leaves. Artificial grow lights are suitable for maintaining colour and pattern.
Water: Keep soil lightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top layer feels just dry to the touch. Use lukewarm, soft water where possible.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a well-draining mix with added perlite, bark, or coco coir. Feed lightly every 4–6 weeks in spring and summer with a diluted fertiliser.
Humidity: High humidity (60%+) is essential. Ideal for terrariums or enclosed cabinets. Avoid placing near cold draughts or radiators.
Pruning and propagation: Pinch back stems to encourage bushier growth. Propagate easily from stem or leaf cuttings in moist substrate.
