Azalea japonica 'Pink Spider'
Azalea japonica 'Pink Spider' is a compact evergreen shrub with unusual pink and white flowers. The narrow, spider-like petals create a distinctive spring display above neat, dark green foliage.
Flowering in April and May, this bushy variety brings colour to smaller gardens, woodland-style borders and patio containers. Its evergreen leaves provide structure beyond the flowering season, combining well with camellias, rhododendrons and other plants that enjoy acidic soil.
Grow in partial shade in moist but well-drained, acidic soil, using ericaceous compost for containers. Water regularly during dry spells, preferably with rainwater, and avoid allowing the rootball to dry out. Little pruning is needed, but any light shaping should follow flowering.
