Astrantia 'Astra Red'
Astrantia 'Astra Red' is a beautiful clump-forming perennial producing richly coloured deep red pincushion-like flowers surrounded by finely detailed bracts. Flowering from June through to August, it brings long-lasting colour, texture and elegance to borders while attracting bees and other pollinators.
Its upright stems rise above attractive mounds of deeply divided green foliage, making it an excellent choice for cottage gardens, naturalistic planting schemes and mixed perennial borders. The distinctive blooms also make superb cut flowers, both fresh and dried.
Easy to grow and fully hardy, 'Astra Red' performs well in full sun or partial shade, thriving in fertile, moisture-retentive soil where it will flower reliably year after year.
