Viburnum x bodnantense 'Dawn'
Viburnum 'Dawn' is a large deciduous shrub valued for its outstanding winter floral display. From late autumn through to early spring, bare branches are smothered with clusters of soft pink flowers, each releasing a powerful fragrance combining sweet and spicy notes. As the seasons progress, green foliage emerges, later turning shades of red in autumn before falling. Inedible black berries may follow the flowers in late summer, adding further interest.
This hardy and easy-to-grow shrub is best placed in full sun for maximum flower production, though it will also tolerate partial shade. With its upright habit and year-round seasonal highlights, ‘Dawn’ makes a superb specimen shrub in mixed borders, near paths, or positioned where its strong winter fragrance can be enjoyed. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit for reliable performance.
