Viburnum farreri 'Candidissimum'
Viburnum farreri 'Candidissimum' is an upright deciduous shrub when young, becoming broader and more graceful with age. From late autumn through winter it carries rounded clusters of small, pure white, very sweetly scented flowers along the bare branches, often continuing into early spring. The blossom brings welcome colour and fragrance to the garden at a time when little else is in bloom.
The foliage emerges light green, maturing to a deeper shade before taking on warm yellow and red tints in autumn. Easy to grow in sun or light shade and moist, well-drained soil, ‘Candidissimum’ is an excellent choice for mixed borders, winter gardens or as a structural backdrop. Flowering stems can also be cut and brought indoors, where their scent and texture add interest to arrangements.
