Spigelia marilandica 'Little Redhead'
Spigelia marilandica 'Little Redhead' is a striking herbaceous perennial producing clusters of dark red tubular flowers with bright yellow interiors above neat clumps of rich green foliage. Flowering from early to mid-summer, the vibrant blooms are highly attractive to bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects, bringing colour and wildlife into the garden.
Equally happy in sun or partial shade, this versatile North American native is perfect for woodland gardens, naturalistic borders and damp but well-drained planting schemes. Its upright habit and long-lasting flowers make it an excellent companion for ferns, hostas and other shade-loving perennials.
Selected for its uniform growth and exceptional flowering performance, 'Little Redhead' is easy to grow provided the soil is fertile and free draining. Avoid planting in areas prone to prolonged waterlogging.
