Sorbus aucuparia 'Sheerwater Seedling'
Sorbus aucuparia 'Sheerwater Seedling' is an elegant deciduous rowan valued for its upright habit, colourful berries and fiery autumn foliage. Clusters of creamy-white flowers appear in spring, attracting bees and other pollinating insects before developing into generous bunches of orange-red berries.
Its ascending branches form a neat, oval crown, making it particularly useful where a tree with a relatively narrow outline is required. Finely divided green leaves create a light, feathery canopy through summer, then turn rich shades of red, orange and yellow in autumn. The bright berries complement the foliage and provide a welcome food source for garden birds.
Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, 'Sheerwater Seedling' makes an attractive specimen for lawns, borders and wildlife gardens. Grow in full sun or light shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Hardy and requiring little routine pruning, it benefits from regular watering during establishment.
