Saxifraga umbrosa
Saxifraga umbrosa is a charming evergreen perennial forming spreading mats of glossy, spoon-shaped leaves with softly lobed edges. The neat rosettes create an attractive carpet of foliage that works beautifully in shaded borders, rockeries and woodland gardens.
In summer, slender stems rise above the foliage carrying clusters of delicate star-like white flowers, often lightly speckled with pink. Easy to grow and tolerant of shade, it is an excellent groundcover for cool, moist positions where many plants struggle.
