Sarracenia ‘Hammerhead’ is a striking carnivorous pitcher plant with upright tubular traps that attract and capture insects naturally. The bold pitchers are typically green with rich red veining and flared hoods, creating a dramatic architectural display while helping to control small flying insects.

During the growing season it produces impressive new pitchers, while winter dormancy allows it to return with renewed vigour each spring.

Sarracenia Care Sheet
Light: Place in full sun for at least 6 hours a day to encourage strong pitcher growth and vibrant colouring
Water: Keep standing in rainwater or distilled water during the growing season. Never allow the compost to dry out and avoid tap water
Soil/Nutrition: Grow in carnivorous plant compost or a peat-free carnivorous mix. Never feed with fertiliser as the plant obtains nutrients from captured insects
Humidity: Average to high humidity is beneficial, although good air circulation is equally important
Pruning and propagation: Remove dead pitchers in late winter before new growth begins. Propagate by division when the plant becomes established
