Sarcococca hookeriana 'Winter Gem'
Sweet Box 'Winter Gem' is a compact evergreen shrub with glossy, rich green foliage that provides year-round structure and colour. Its neat, bushy habit makes it particularly useful for shaded borders, woodland-style planting and containers.
During winter, clusters of highly fragrant creamy-white flowers appear along the stems, releasing a sweet perfume at a time when little else is in bloom. The flowers are also attractive to early bees, adding valuable seasonal interest to the garden.
After flowering, rounded red berries develop and gradually ripen to glossy black, extending the display into summer. Easy to grow and tolerant of shade and a wide range of soils, 'Winter Gem' is an excellent low-maintenance choice for difficult or north-facing positions.
