Rosa 'The Pilgrim'
Rose 'The Pilgrim' is a beautiful English climbing rose producing elegant blooms in a soft yellow shade that gently fades towards the outer petals. The buds open into many-petalled cups which gradually develop into large, flat rosettes, creating a refined and classic display.
Bred by David Austin and introduced in 1991, this reliable climber produces flowers along much of the plant as it grows, ensuring colour from top to bottom. The blooms carry a pleasing medium fragrance combining Tea and myrrh notes, making it an excellent choice for training over walls, arches and garden structures.

Getting the most from your new Rose
Where to plant
Choose an open, sunny position with free-draining soil. Avoid planting where roses have grown before or transfer fresh soil to the site. Climbing and Rambling roses can be trained up walls, fences and other supports.
Planting
Roses love organic matter, so mix well-rotten manure, leaf mould or compost into the soil. Water thoroughly before planting. Make a hole big enough not to disturb the root ball. Remove from the pot and ensure the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Back-fill soil mixed with a good fertilizer, then firm. Water thoroughly.
Aftercare
Water well until established. Mulching will keep the soil weed-free and moist. For best results feed your roses with fertilizer in spring and again in summer. Remove faded flowers to encourage speedy repeat flowering.
Simple Pruning
Prune your rose in March or before new growth by removing any dead or very thin branches and reducing the height by 1/3 to 2/3 of the previous growth.
