Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia'
Prunus laurocerasus 'Rotundifolia' is a fast-growing evergreen shrub valued for its dense habit and large, glossy green leaves. Its broad, rounded foliage provides year-round structure and quickly creates an effective screen, making it one of the most popular choices for evergreen hedging.
In late spring, clusters of fragrant white flowers appear above the foliage, attracting bees and other pollinating insects. These may be followed by ornamental black berries in autumn, providing additional seasonal interest and a useful food source for birds and other wildlife.
Hardy, versatile and easy to maintain, 'Rotundifolia' performs well in full sun or partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soil types. It responds well to regular pruning, allowing it to be maintained as a neat formal hedge or left to develop into a more natural screen.
