Prunus cistena
Prunus cistena is a striking deciduous shrub, grown primarily for its rich, deep purple foliage which provides bold colour from spring through autumn. In early spring, before the leaves fully develop, the branches are adorned with delicate pale pink to near-white blossoms, creating a beautiful contrast against the dark stems.
Compact and naturally well shaped, this variety is ideal for smaller gardens, mixed borders and container planting. Its colourful foliage remains a standout feature throughout the growing season, while the nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and other pollinators, making it a valuable addition to wildlife-friendly gardens.
