Pleiospilos nelii 'Rubra'
Pleiospilos nelii ‘Rubra’ is a striking “living stone” succulent with smooth, rounded, rock-like leaves in rich purplish-red tones. The deeply split centre gives the plant its distinctive “split rock” appearance, and in late summer to autumn it may produce a spectacular daisy-like flower that emerges dramatically from the fissure.
Ideal for sunny windowsills, warm conservatories, or minimalistic displays, this slow-growing and extremely low-maintenance plant thrives in bright, dry conditions. Its sculptural form and unusual colour make it a standout choice for collectors of rare succulents and living stone species.

Light: Requires bright light to full sun. A south- or west-facing windowsill is ideal to maintain compact growth and strong colour
Water: Water very sparingly. Allow soil to remain completely dry for long periods. Typically water only once the old leaf pair has fully shrivelled. Overwatering is the main cause of failure
Soil/Nutrition: Use a very gritty, fast-draining mix (cactus soil with added pumice or grit). Feed lightly once in summer, if at all
Humidity: Prefers low humidity. Avoid misting and do not keep in enclosed terrariums
Pruning and propagation: Do not remove old leaves until they have dried naturally. Propagate slowly from seed; division is rarely possible
