Pittosporum 'John Flanagan'
Pittosporum 'John Flanagan' is a compact evergreen shrub with glossy, oval leaves and a dense, bushy habit. Fresh foliage emerges bright yellow-green with darker, gently wavy margins, before maturing to deeper green. The changing leaf colours stand out against dark brown stems, bringing year-round contrast to planting schemes.
Small, deep red, scented flowers appear in spring, adding subtle seasonal interest among the colourful leaves. Its neat growth makes it a useful choice for mixed borders, informal hedging and large patio containers, where the foliage provides lasting structure.
Grow in full sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. A sunny position encourages the brightest foliage colour. Choose a sheltered spot away from cold, drying winds, and protect the roots with mulch in colder gardens. Light trimming helps maintain a tidy outline.
