Pieris japonica 'Bonfire'
Pieris japonica 'Bonfire' is a compact, slow-growing evergreen shrub prized for its striking foliage and elegant spring flowers. Fresh young growth emerges in rich burgundy-red shades before gradually maturing to glossy deep green, providing attractive colour contrast through the seasons.
During March and April, clusters of delicate, bell-shaped white flowers appear above the foliage, creating an elegant spring display. The lightly scented blooms resemble lily-of-the-valley and contrast beautifully with the colourful new growth.
Ideal for woodland gardens, mixed borders and patio containers, 'Bonfire' grows best in a sheltered position in partial shade or gentle sun. Plant in moist but well-drained acidic soil, or use ericaceous compost when growing in containers, for the best growth and foliage colour.
