Phlox subulata 'Emerald Cushion Blue'
Phlox subulata 'Emerald Cushion Blue' forms a dense carpet of pale lavender-blue flowers with darker centres. The blooms cover a low cushion of fine, needle-like evergreen foliage, creating a soft wash of colour close to the ground.
Flowering in spring and early summer, this spreading perennial is well suited to rockeries, sunny banks and the front of borders. It also softens the edges of paths and containers, with trailing growth that can spill over low walls.
Grow in full sun in well-drained soil, avoiding positions that remain wet in winter. Trim lightly after flowering to encourage fresh growth and maintain a neat, compact carpet.
