Peperomia scandens 'Variegata'
Peperomia scandens 'Variegata' is an attractive trailing houseplant with soft, heart-shaped leaves patterned in fresh green and creamy white. Its gently cascading stems create a light, elegant appearance, making it particularly effective when grown on shelves, in hanging pots or allowed to trail from a planter.
Compact and easy to accommodate, this variegated Peperomia prefers bright, indirect light, which helps maintain the strongest leaf colouring. Its fleshy leaves store moisture, so it is best allowed to dry slightly between waterings and should never be left sitting in wet compost.
- Other names: Variegated Cupid Peperomia, Variegated Cupid Plant
- Useful to know: Non-toxic – safe around pets and children
- Feature: Trailing stems with heart-shaped green and creamy-white variegated leaves
- Eventual height: Trailing stems can reach approximately 60-90cm
- Origins: Tropical regions of Central and South America
Peperomia Care
Light: Bright, indirect light; variegated varieties benefit from good light to maintain their colouring
Water: Allow the top few centimetres of compost to dry between waterings and avoid overwatering
Humidity: Comfortable in average household humidity but appreciates slightly higher humidity
Temperature: Keep warm, ideally between 18°C and 24°C, and protect from cold draughts
Feeding: Feed with a balanced houseplant fertiliser every few weeks during spring and summer
Care: Pinch back long stems if required to encourage a fuller, bushier plant
