Paeonia x hybrida 'Julia Rose'
Paeonia x hybrida 'Julia Rose' is a remarkable Itoh (Intersectional) Peony celebrated for its long flowering season, strong stems and extraordinary colour-changing blooms. The flowers open as rich cherry red before transforming through shades of pink, apricot and soft yellow as they mature—often displaying several colours at once on a single plant. Blooms are half to fully double, with a light spicy fragrance and a large bud size, making them particularly striking.
As an Itoh peony, it blends the best traits of herbaceous and tree peonies: large showy flowers, strong woody stems that require no staking, and a compact, tidy habit that dies back cleanly in winter. The blooms rise well above the foliage, creating a bold display in late spring to early summer. Fully hardy, reliable and excellent for cutting, it thrives in fertile, well-drained soil and is suitable for borders or large containers.
