Opuntia microdasys rufida 'Minor'
Opuntia microdasys rufida 'Minor' is a compact, pad-forming cactus with small, oval green pads densely dotted with rusty-red glochids. This dwarf variety stays smaller than the typical Bunny Ears cactus, making it well-suited for pots and indoor collections. In summer, it may produce bright yellow flowers, followed by small purple fruits on mature plants.

Light: Requires full sun for compact growth and rich pad colour. A south-facing window is ideal indoors.
Water: Water sparingly in summer, allowing soil to dry completely between waterings. Keep almost dry in winter.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a gritty, well-draining cactus mix. Feed monthly in spring and summer with diluted cactus fertiliser.
Humidity: Prefers dry air – avoid humid conditions.
Pruning & Propagation: Pads can be carefully removed with tongs and rooted in dry cactus soil. Wear gloves to avoid glochid irritation.
