Nertera granadensis 'Astrid'
Nertera granadensis 'Astrid' is a unique and eye-catching houseplant grown for its low, moss-like mat of tiny green leaves, topped in summer with bright orange berries. Also known as Coral Bead Plant, it makes a striking display in bowls or shallow pots, adding a colourful and unusual touch indoors.
This compact plant prefers cooler, humid conditions and is best suited to bright rooms out of direct sun. When happy, it forms a dense carpet of foliage that bursts into a mass of berries, creating a bold seasonal feature.

- Useful to know: Not safe for pets - berries can be toxic if ingested
- Eventual height: 5-10cm tall, spreading to 20-30cm
- Origins: Native to Central and South America, Australasia, and parts of Southeast Asia
Nertera Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid harsh midday sun, which may scorch foliage.
Water: Keep soil evenly moist during the growing season but reduce watering slightly in winter. Do not allow soil to dry out completely.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a light, free-draining potting mix. Feed lightly during spring and summer with diluted fertiliser.
Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Mist regularly or place on a pebble tray.
Pruning & Propagation: Remove spent berries and damaged foliage. Propagates by seed or division.
