Nandina domestica 'Obsessed' (also known as Heavenly Bamboo) is a compact, evergreen shrub admired for its vibrant, ever-changing foliage. In spring, new leaves emerge in a brilliant shade of fiery red before maturing to fresh green during summer. As the seasons turn, the foliage deepens to rich scarlet and crimson tones, providing dramatic winter colour when many other plants fade. Its neat, bushy habit ensures year-round structure and interest, even in smaller gardens.
Clusters of delicate, starry white flowers appear in early to midsummer, adding a soft contrast against the foliage. These may be followed by small, ornamental red berries in autumn, which extend the display and provide additional seasonal charm. Tolerant of most soils and easy to grow, ‘Obsessed’ thrives in full sun to partial shade. It is particularly effective in borders, containers, or as a low hedge, where its compact size and reliable performance make it a versatile choice.
