Maranta leuconeura 'Shadow'
Maranta leuconeura 'Shadow' is an elegant Prayer Plant grown for its richly patterned foliage and distinctive daily leaf movements. The broad oval leaves feature deep green tones layered with darker markings and feathered veining, creating a dramatic shadow-like effect that gives this cultivar its name.
Like other Marantas, the foliage gently folds upwards during the evening before reopening with daylight, adding movement and character to indoor displays. Its compact, spreading habit makes it ideal for shelves, plant stands and decorative pots, where the beautifully patterned leaves can be appreciated up close.

Maranta Care Sheet
Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Avoid direct sunlight which can fade or scorch the foliage. Tolerates lower light levels better than many houseplants.
Water: Keep compost consistently lightly moist but never waterlogged. Allow the top centimetre of compost to dry slightly between waterings.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a moisture-retentive but free-draining houseplant compost. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertiliser.
Humidity: Enjoys high humidity and performs best in kitchens, bathrooms or near a humidifier. Dry air can cause brown leaf edges.
Pruning and propagation: Trim leggy stems to maintain a compact shape. Easily propagated from stem cuttings or division.
