Mahonia × media 'Charity'
Mahonia × media 'Charity' is a bold, upright evergreen shrub valued for its dramatic winter display and architectural form. From November to February, it produces striking upright racemes of scented yellow flowers above its spiny, holly-like foliage. These cheerful blooms provide an essential source of nectar for bees and other pollinators when little else is in flower.
As the flowers fade, they are followed by attractive blue-black berries, extending the season of interest. Tough, low maintenance, and highly adaptable, ‘Charity’ is ideal for creating evergreen structure in mixed borders, woodland gardens, or shaded areas. It thrives in partial shade with moist, well-drained soil and offers year-round texture, colour, and wildlife value. Holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
