Lonicera japonica 'Mint Crisp'
Lonicera japonica 'Mint Crisp' is a vigorous, semi-evergreen honeysuckle admired for its marbled foliage in shades of pale green, deep green and cream. The leaves may develop pink tints in autumn and winter, adding seasonal colour and contrast even when the plant is not in flower.
From June to October, clusters of sweetly fragrant white flowers gradually age to buttery yellow. The scented blooms and decorative foliage make this a lovely choice for growing near paths, patios and seating areas, where both can be appreciated up close.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Mint Crisp' thrives in sun or partial shade in fertile, moist but well-drained soil. Train its twining stems over a sturdy trellis, fence or pergola, and prune in early spring to keep growth manageable and maintain a tidy framework.
