Labisia ‘Turtle Back’
Labisia ‘Turtle Back’ is an exceptionally unusual foliage plant prized for its heavily textured leaves patterned with raised pale green veining over deep olive, bronze and charcoal tones. The striking network of veins creates a reptile-like effect reminiscent of a turtle shell, giving this rare tropical plant its distinctive name.
Its compact rosette growth and richly patterned foliage make it an outstanding collector’s plant for terrariums, humidity cabinets and warm indoor spaces. New leaves often emerge with bronze or burgundy tones before maturing into darker shades with dramatic contrasting venation.

Labisia Care Sheet
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but tolerates light shade. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch leaves.
Water: Keep compost lightly and evenly moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. Do not allow the plant to sit in water.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining but moisture-retentive houseplant compost. Feed lightly in spring and summer.
Humidity: Enjoys higher humidity. Ideal for plant cabinets, bathrooms, or grouping with other plants. Keep away from draughts.
Pruning and propagation: Remove older or damaged leaves to maintain shape. Can be propagated by division during repotting.
