Knautia macedonica
Knautia macedonica is a long-flowering perennial producing rich crimson pincushion blooms on slender, wiry stems. This cottage garden favourite brings movement and colour to borders from midsummer into autumn, creating a light, airy effect among neighbouring plants.
The nectar-rich flowers are highly attractive to bees and butterflies, making it an excellent choice for wildlife-friendly gardens. Thriving in full sun and well-drained soil, it is easy to grow and drought tolerant once established, working beautifully in naturalistic, meadow and prairie-style planting schemes.
