Kalanchoe humilis 'Surprising Desert'
Kalanchoe 'Surprising Desert' is a highly ornamental succulent prized for its unusual marbled foliage. The broad, fleshy leaves are silvery-grey to pale green, heavily marked with dramatic burgundy-purple bands and speckles that create an almost hand-painted appearance.
Forming compact rosettes that gradually develop into attractive clumps, this drought-tolerant species brings striking colour and texture to sunny windowsills, conservatories and succulent collections. During the growing season, mature plants may produce tall flower spikes carrying small pink to purple blooms above the foliage.

Kalanchoe Care Sheet
Light: Requires a bright position with several hours of direct sunlight each day. Strong light helps maintain the rich purple leaf markings.
Water: Allow the compost to dry almost completely between waterings. Water sparingly during winter when growth slows.
Soil/Nutrition: Use a free-draining cactus or succulent compost. Feed monthly during spring and summer with a diluted cactus fertiliser.
Humidity: Average household humidity is ideal. Avoid excessively humid conditions and ensure good air circulation.
Pruning and propagation: Remove old leaves as required. Easily propagated from stem cuttings or offsets produced around the base of the plant.
