Hypericum × hidcoteense 'Hidcote'
Hypericum × hidcoteense 'Hidcote' is a reliable semi-evergreen shrub forming a broad, bushy mound of dark green, lance-shaped leaves. Its dense foliage provides useful structure throughout the growing season and may remain on the plant through milder winters in sheltered garden positions.
From July to October, large, cup-shaped golden-yellow flowers open in generous clusters above the foliage. The blooms can reach 6cm across, with prominent golden stamens at their centres. Their long flowering season brings lasting colour to mixed borders while attracting bees.
Hardy and easy to grow, 'Hidcote' thrives in full sun or partial shade with moist but well-drained soil. It adapts to acidic, neutral and alkaline conditions and is ideal for shrub beds, informal hedging and wildlife-friendly planting. This dependable variety holds the RHS Award of Garden Merit.
