Hypericum calycinum
Hypericum calycinum is a fast-growing, spreading groundcover shrub valued for its dense habit and long season of interest. Its evergreen to semi-evergreen foliage consists of long, oval-shaped dark green leaves that quickly knit together to suppress weeds and cover bare ground.
From summer through into autumn, large, bright yellow, five-petalled flowers appear in abundance, each highlighted by prominent golden stamens. These are followed by red berries that mature to black in autumn, adding further interest. Tough, reliable and easy to grow, it is ideal for banks, borders, underplanting shrubs or covering difficult areas.
